It is undeniable that we are more than ever living in a visual world. The evolution of numerical technologies has enable us to not only take dozens of pictures in seconds but also to share them as quickly as easily on internet, reaching out thousands of viewers. But in this era of social medias and cameras on mobile devices, it seems the value of an image and its subject matter aren’t as strong as our craze for taking « snaps ». How this overconsumption of images has affected the way we look at pictures? Does not the short time we spend looking at so many clear images end up looking at images which outlines we can’t define?
Being an artist and short-sighted, this visual world is more than ever a source of inspiration. My work analyzes the influence this phenomenon of overconsumption has on the way we conceive what we see.
This thinking has led me to two projects 'Empreinte' and 'Post Matter'. 'Post matter' tries to reveal how the line between Appropriation and inspiration has become so thin and blurry itself. Screenshots of instagram accounts related to art (artist, gallery or museum) and representing others’ artworks are directly and roughly transposed into simple compositions: blocs of colors and shapes.
