MANA 真名

This series of paintings entitled Mana is the direct continuity of a previous project 'Post Matter'. Questioning the influence of the overconsumption of the image on our inspiration and creative process, 'Post Matter' deals with topics linked directly to contemporary art, such as: Appropriation art, authenticity and paternity of the work.

In this specific context, my nearsightedness is one of the reason why I grant so much importance to the image. The blur surrounding me has always been a source of imagination. This profusion of images feeds my inspirations while the interpretation I have of the latter is shaped by my sight.

Mana series' titles are Japanese words that kanjis echo to concepts of Nature and universal Forces such as the sky, fire, earth but also to spiritual and emotional states like fervor and passion. A Kanji having several meanings and ways of being read, its use is not only a direct allusion to the different interpretations that many may have of the same image but also to the blurred and subjective vision of the artist.
